The Tamiya Nissan Skyline GT-R R33 Drift Spec combines one of Nissan's most iconic performance cars with Tamiya's popular TT-02D drift-spec 4WD chassis.

Tamiya 58604 faithfully recreates the muscular R33 Skyline GT-R with a durable clear polycarbonate body, separate mirrors and rear wing, while underneath sits a purpose-built TT-02D chassis equipped with drift tyres, oil-filled shocks, full ball bearings and a Sport-Tuned 540 motor.

Nissan Skyline GT-R R33

Unveiled in production form during the mid-1990s, the R33 Skyline GT-R followed the legendary R32 with a larger and more refined body while continuing Nissan's high-performance GT-R heritage.

Tamiya accurately captures the R33's distinctive proportions, including its wide stance, characteristic front end and large rear wing.

The body is manufactured from durable clear polycarbonate, with separate door mirrors and rear wing components for additional scale detail. The rear wing can also be assembled with different wing angles.

TT-02D Drift Spec Chassis

Underneath the Skyline body is Tamiya's TT-02D, the drift-specific version of the popular TT-02 chassis.

The TT-02D retains the TT-02's straightforward construction, easy maintenance and balanced shaft-driven 4WD layout while adding a range of factory drift upgrades.

This makes it a great choice for drivers wanting to get into RC drifting while still enjoying the experience of building and setting up their own car.

Shaft-Driven 4WD

The TT-02D uses a shaft-driven four-wheel-drive system, distributing motor power to both the front and rear wheels.

Front and rear 4-bevel resin differentials provide smooth drivetrain operation, while the balanced chassis layout helps produce predictable handling that's particularly useful when learning to control a drift.

Drift Tyres & Metal-Plated Wheels

Purpose-designed 24mm drift tyres are included as standard equipment.

They're fitted to stylish matte-finish metal-plated wheels, giving the R33 an aggressive street and drift appearance while providing the low-grip characteristics required for controlled sliding.

CVA Oil-Filled Shocks

Unlike the basic TT-02, the TT-02D comes standard with Tamiya CVA oil-filled shock absorbers.

Combined with the independent double-wishbone suspension at all four corners, the oil shocks provide smoother and more controlled suspension movement and offer greater tuning potential.

Sport-Tuned Motor Included

Another major TT-02D upgrade is the included Tamiya Sport-Tuned 540 brushed motor.

The Sport-Tuned motor provides increased performance compared with Tamiya's standard silver-can motor and gives the Skyline plenty of power for drift driving.

Full Ball Bearings

The TT-02D also comes equipped with full ball bearings as standard.

These reduce drivetrain friction compared with basic plastic or metal bushings, helping provide smoother and more efficient operation.

An aluminium motor heat sink is also included to assist with motor cooling.

Strong Drift-Spec Suspension

Tamiya equips the TT-02D with reinforced resin uprights and damper stays to provide additional strength.

Four-wheel independent double-wishbone suspension gives the chassis predictable handling and provides plenty of opportunities for further tuning and upgrading.

Adjustable Gear Ratios

The standard gear ratio is 8.27:1.

With separately available pinion gears, Tamiya states that a further nine ratios between 11.38:1 and 7.28:1 can be achieved, allowing the drivetrain to be tuned to suit different motors and driving requirements.

Great R33 Drift Project

The Tamiya 58604 Skyline GT-R R33 is an excellent option for anyone wanting a build-it-yourself RC drift car with one of the most recognisable Japanese performance-car bodies.
