Bartholomew Roberts, better known as Black Bart, became one of the most successful pirates in history. Operating between 1719 and 1722, Roberts captured hundreds of vessels during his relatively short but extraordinary career.

The name Royal Fortune was used by Roberts for several captured vessels, with his flagship becoming closely associated with his reputation and success during the final years of the Golden Age of Piracy.
