'Duchess of Abercorn' entered LMS service in 1938 as 6234 in the famous Crimson Lake livery. Before nationalisation, the locomotive is recorded as having been painted in a solid blue-grey colour, although Hornby notes that no photographs confirm this. Under British Railways it was renumbered 46234 and subsequently carried two different BR liveries before being scrapped at Crewe in June 1963.
