UDI RC UDI-023 Inkfish 14" Brushed Jet Boat RTR – Self-Righting

The UDI RC UDI-023 Inkfish Jet Boat is a fun and versatile ready-to-run R/C boat featuring a shallow-V hull, enclosed jet-pump propulsion and self-righting capability. Unlike a conventional R/C boat with an exposed propeller and rudder beneath the hull, the Inkfish uses a jet-drive system, making it particularly well suited to shallow water and areas where underwater obstacles could cause problems for a traditional propeller-driven boat.

Measuring 362mm long, the Inkfish uses a high-strength ABS hull with a 32-degree deadrise. Its compact size makes it easy to transport while still providing plenty of performance for ponds, lakes and other suitable calm-water locations.

Jet Pump Propulsion

One of the standout features of the UDI-023 is its water-jet propulsion system. The propulsion components do not extend below the bottom of the hull in the same way as a conventional propeller and rudder arrangement.

This gives the Inkfish a much shallower draft and reduces the chance of the propulsion system becoming caught on underwater vegetation or striking rocks and other submerged obstacles.

Power comes from a 390-size carbon brushed motor combined with a water-cooling system. The UDI-023 can reach approximately 14–20km/h, providing enjoyable performance while remaining manageable for newer R/C boat users.

Self-Righting Hull

If the boat flips upside down while running, there's no need to immediately retrieve it from the water.

The UDI-023 incorporates a one-button self-righting function. Provided the battery isn't in a low-voltage state, activating the recovery function allows the boat to return itself to the correct upright position.

This is an especially useful feature for R/C boating, where an overturned conventional boat can otherwise require another boat or manual retrieval.

2.4GHz Radio with Built-In Gyro

The supplied 2.4GHz radio system provides a control range of approximately 100 metres, giving plenty of room to enjoy the Inkfish on the water.

The electronic control system incorporates a gyroscope, helping provide more stable and predictable handling. The boat also features forward and reverse control together with left and right steering.

A waterproof 9g high-torque steering servo controls the jet steering system.

Navigation Lights

Controllable navigation lights add to the scale appearance of the Inkfish and make the boat particularly impressive when operating in lower-light conditions.

Other useful electronic features include a low-battery warning and out-of-range alarm, helping the driver know when it's time to bring the boat back to shore.

Battery & Charger Included

The UDI-023 is supplied with a 7.4V 2000mAh rechargeable lithium battery and USB balance charger.

Typical running time is approximately 8–10 minutes, depending on how the boat is driven and operating conditions. Charging time using the supplied charger is approximately 230 minutes.

As an RTR package, virtually everything required to get onto the water is included. Simply charge the supplied boat battery and add 4 x AAA batteries to the transmitter.
