The Team Associated RC8B4.2e Team Kit is the latest evolution of Associated Electrics’ championship-winning 1/8 scale electric buggy platform. Developed by the Area 51 engineering team, the RC8B4.2e builds on the proven RC8 series with significant updates to suspension geometry, drivetrain layout, differential performance and weight distribution.

Designed specifically for serious 1/8 scale off-road competition, the RC8B4.2e provides racers with an extremely adjustable platform capable of being tuned for a wide variety of track conditions. The latest generation focuses on improving consistency, responsiveness and overall chassis balance while maintaining the durability required for demanding 1/8 buggy racing.

One of the major updates is the introduction of new height-adjustable front and rear gearboxes. These allow racers to alter gearbox positioning and drivetrain geometry as part of the overall chassis setup, providing another valuable tuning option for different grip levels and track conditions.

The RC8B4.2e also receives new offset wheel hubs and revised rear suspension arms specifically designed around the updated hub geometry. These changes refine the suspension characteristics and give racers additional control over the buggy's handling and stability.

A new high-volume centre differential improves consistency during long runs. The increased oil capacity helps the differential maintain more stable performance as temperatures change throughout a race, providing more predictable power delivery from the beginning of a run through to the final laps.

Team Associated has equipped the RC8B4.2e with its RWB/FWB adjustable weight-bias chassis system. This allows the overall vehicle balance to be adjusted between rearward and forward weight configurations, helping racers tune steering response, rotation and rear traction to suit the circuit.

The drivetrain and chassis layout have been centralised and optimised around modern shorty-style LiPo battery packs. Bringing mass closer to the centre of the vehicle helps improve response during direction changes while allowing the buggy to feel more agile without sacrificing the stability expected from a 1/8 scale platform.

An adjustable battery tray with hook-and-loop retaining strap provides secure battery mounting while accommodating different battery configurations and setup preferences.

The drivetrain uses 44/13 ring and pinion gears, along with 92mm universal driveshafts and 17mm outdrives. A precision-machined 47-tooth steel spur gear is supplied as standard for excellent durability and efficient power transfer.

Team Associated also includes both 19mm and 20mm HTC internal differential gear sets, providing additional differential tuning possibilities. This allows experienced racers to alter differential characteristics and power delivery to suit different surfaces and grip levels.

Suspension uses soft-blend composite arms designed to provide the flex characteristics required for competition off-road racing. 8-degree KPI steering blocks are included, giving racers another option for adjusting steering feel and front-end response.

Factory Team hard-anodised aluminium shock bushings are now included as standard equipment, complementing the competition-grade oil-filled shock package and providing smooth, consistent suspension operation.

A new high-downforce rear wing helps improve rear stability and aerodynamic performance, particularly through high-speed sections and over larger jumps.

As expected from a Team Associated Team Kit, extensive adjustment is available throughout the chassis. Suspension geometry, differential setup, weight distribution, ride height, shock settings and electronics placement can all be tuned to suit the driver's preference and changing track conditions.

The RC8B4.2e is supplied as a professional competition assembly kit, allowing racers to select their preferred motor, ESC, servo, battery and radio equipment. Wheels and tyres are also selected separately so the correct combination can be chosen for the intended racing surface.
