The e259 series, which appeared in 2009, is a limited express train that began operation in october of the same year as the successor to the 253 series. A renewal was announced in march 2023, and the first train with a new paint scheme was released in may of the same year. All 22 trains are scheduled to have their paint changed by the end of fiscal year 2023.

• head and tail lights are equipped with a constant lighting board and have an on-off switch
• head lights are lit by incandescent leds, tail lights by red leds
• antennas on the roof are reproduced with separate parts
• only the leading car driver's side is equipped with a tn coupler (sp)
• uses power with a flywheel
• uses a new current collection system and black wheels
• uses an m-13 motor
• the basic set comes in a hanging paper package
