The 500 series is a tokaido/sanyo shinkansen train developed by jr west. It features a sharp and sleek shape reminiscent of an aircraft, and boasts a top speed of 300km/h in commercial operation. In 2010, it finished working on the tokaido/sanyo shinkansen nozomi, and is currently being used on the sanyo shinkansen after being modified to an 8-car train.
