Model Engines ME651 Aircraft Dope is a traditional nitrocellulose lacquer designed for use when building and finishing model aircraft. It can be used to shrink and tighten tissue covering while also producing a smooth, durable and water-resistant finish on balsa and other suitable model aircraft surfaces.

Ideal for Traditional Model Aircraft Building

Aircraft dope has been used for generations in the construction of balsa wood and tissue-covered model aircraft. When applied to tissue covering, the dope helps tighten the material as it dries, producing a firmer and smoother covering.

It can also be applied directly to balsa wood, helping seal the porous surface and increase its resistance to moisture and everyday handling.

Clear Protective Finish

ME651 provides a clear, lustrous finish, making it suitable for applications where you want to retain the natural appearance of the underlying material.

Multiple coats can be applied where additional sealing or surface build is required.

Can Be Thinned

Aircraft dope can be thinned to alter its consistency and improve penetration into porous surfaces. A suitable aircraft dope thinner should be used when thinning is required.
