Bandai MG 1/100 RX-78GP02A Gundam Physalis

Recreate the imposing Gundam stolen and piloted by Anavel Gato with the Bandai Master Grade RX-78GP02A Gundam Physalis. Based on its appearance in Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, this substantial 1/100 scale Gunpla captures the heavily armoured proportions, enormous shield and distinctive shoulder-mounted thruster binders of Gundam Development Project Unit 2.

The model includes the GP02A’s signature atomic bazooka, which separates for storage when not deployed. Its barrel fits inside the large shield, while the remaining section mounts behind the right shoulder. The backpack container also opens to reveal the stored Mk-82 warhead.

Mechanical features include linked thrusters within the flexible shoulder binders, double-jointed knees, an opening cockpit and selected internal mechanisms. Two beam sabres are stored in the side armour, providing an alternative close-combat loadout.

Atomic Bazooka and Shield

The GP02A’s enormous atomic bazooka can be assembled in its deployed firing configuration or separated for storage. The long barrel section mounts inside the large shield, while the rear portion attaches behind the Gundam’s right shoulder.

The backpack container opens to reveal the Mk-82 warhead, adding another distinctive mechanical detail from the mobile suit’s specialised tactical configuration.

Shoulder Thruster System

Large flexible thruster binders dominate the GP02A’s silhouette. Each binder can be repositioned, with internal thruster components linked to move as the assembly is adjusted. These mechanisms help reproduce the mobile suit’s heavily equipped appearance while offering additional posing options.

Articulation and Internal Detail

The model features articulated limbs, double-jointed knees and movable armour sections. Selected exterior parts, including the foot armour, can be removed to display the detailed mechanisms underneath.

An opening cockpit houses the included seated Anavel Gato pilot figure. A larger standing figure of Gato is also supplied for painting and display alongside the completed model.
