Her appearance put the Royal Navy on high alert. Her speed and armament was among the best in the world. In 1941, the ship was intercepted by the strong British fleet during her first voyage. Though Bismarck and Prinz Eugen sank HMS Hood, she was finally sunk in the North Atlantic Ocean.
