On June 6th, 1944, General Dempsey's troops of the British Expeditionary Force, composed by the 3rd and 50th English Division and by the Canadian 3rd Division, landed on the beaches of Normandy codenamed Sword, Juno, and Gold. The D-Day had thus come. The British Expeditionary Force was to land and quickly take over the town of Caen.
