Dumas Viking Ship Junior Modeller Kit – DUMA1011

The Dumas Viking Ship Kit #1011 is a beginner-friendly model ship kit from the Dumas Junior Modeler Collection, designed to provide an enjoyable introduction to traditional model building without the complexity of Dumas' larger scale boat kits.

Measuring approximately 15.5 inches (394mm) long when completed, the model recreates the unmistakable appearance of a traditional Viking longship with its long narrow hull, prominent bow and stern, mast and large square sail.

Junior Modeller Collection

Dumas developed its Junior Modeler Collection to provide kits that are easy to build while retaining the character and detailing associated with Dumas model boats.

The Viking Ship uses a combination of vacuum-formed plastic and laser-cut wooden components, giving new builders experience working with different modelling materials without requiring the more advanced construction techniques found in larger wooden ship kits.

Vacuum-Formed Hull & Deck

The main hull and deck are supplied as vacuum-formed components, providing the builder with the basic shape of the vessel from the beginning.

This greatly simplifies construction compared with a traditional plank-on-frame wooden hull and makes the model particularly suitable for beginners and younger builders with appropriate supervision.

Laser-Cut Wooden Parts

A selection of laser-cut wooden components is included to add structure and traditional modelling detail.

Laser cutting provides accurately shaped components while reducing the amount of cutting and fabrication required by the builder, helping make assembly more straightforward.

Traditional Paper Sail

The Viking Ship includes a paper sail, giving the completed model the characteristic appearance of a Viking sailing vessel.

Combined with the mast and longship-style hull, the large sail creates an attractive finished display model that looks great on a shelf, desk or within a maritime collection.

Display Stand Included

Once construction is complete, the model can be placed on the included display stand.

The completed ship measures approximately 394mm long with a 102mm beam, making it large enough to have plenty of presence while remaining compact enough for convenient display.
