Dumas 12" Sailboat Junior Modeller Wooden Boat Kit – DUMA1007

The Dumas 1007 Sailboat is a simple 12-inch wooden model boat kit specifically designed to introduce younger and first-time builders to the enjoyment of traditional model boat construction.

Part of Dumas' Junior Modeller range, the kit uses quality wood and modelling materials similar to those found in the company's larger boat kits, but with straightforward construction that's much easier for a beginner to tackle. Once completed, it makes an attractive little display model and can also be enjoyed as a free-sailing model on calm water.

Designed for Beginner Modellers

Dumas developed its Junior Modeller kits so younger builders could experience the satisfaction of constructing a wooden model rather than simply assembling a ready-made toy.

The DUMA1007 is deliberately uncomplicated, making it a great first wooden boat project, family building activity or gift for a young modeller interested in boats and traditional model making.

Traditional Wooden Construction

Unlike plastic snap-together kits, the Dumas Sailboat uses wooden construction, giving the builder experience working with traditional model-building materials.

The completed model has the classic appearance of a small sailing boat, complete with mast, sail and keel weight. Dumas' original catalogue confirms that the sail and keel weight are included with kit #1007.

Compact 12-Inch Size

The finished sailboat measures approximately 12 inches (305mm) long with a 4-1/2 inch (114mm) beam.

Its mast stands approximately 15 inches (381mm) high, giving the finished boat a surprisingly substantial appearance despite its compact hull size.

Free-Sailing Fun

The Dumas 1007 can be built as an attractive display model, but its simple sailboat design also allows it to be enjoyed on suitable calm water.

There's no electric motor or complicated running hardware required – the boat relies on its sail, keel and the wind, keeping the finished model in keeping with the straightforward nature of the kit. Dumas' catalogue specifically lists the sail and keel weight as included equipment.
