about the hohenstaufen division:

The hohenstaufen division took its name from a historically noble german family line that stemmed from king frederich ii (1194 v 1250). The 9th ss panzer-division hohenstaufen was formed in december 1942, and was stationed in france when the allied invasion was unleashed on the normandy area in mid-1944
