Lawrences Late Surge: Podium Finish in the 1974 Tasman Finale

The 1974 Tasman Series wrapped up with the Adelaide '100' on February 24, marking the final round of the eight-race international championship. Open to cars under Tasman Formula regulations, the series drew top talent across New Zealand and Australia.

Graeme Lawrence qualified 9th in his F5000 Lola T332 Chevrolet at Adelaide International Raceway, behind heavyweights like Peter Gethin, Frank Matich, Warwick Brown, and polesitter Max Stewart.

Despite lacking front-runner pace on race day, Lawrence fought hard across the 70-lap (168.7 km) race to claim a strong 3rd-place finish in 1h 01m 34.7sjust seconds behind winner Warwick Brown and runner-up Peter Gethin. Only the top four drivers completed the full race distance.

With another 3rd-place result earlier in Round 4 at Teretonga, Lawrence ended the 1974 Tasman Series tied for 8th overalla solid showing in a fiercely competitive field.

This 1/18 Model Features:

• The front wheel rims on the Lola feature sanded racing slicks. Note the intricate paint finishes to replicate the racing rims.

• The cockpit dash features detailed instrumentation and the light weight racing seat is cut down to the bare essentials, leaving no room for comfort.
• AThe V8s demand for air is fed by the air scoop on top of the engine cover. The engine cover is removable to display the engine.
• With the engine cover removed the fine craftsmanship of the V8 can be appreciated along with the clamps on the velocity stacks.
• The front wheels have working suspension with metal coil springs and fully functioning steering.
• The rear suspension is accurately represented with metal coil springs and linkages. Note the size of the rear tyres.
• The large rear wing, with amazing strut detail, helps keep the rear of the car held down on the racing circuit.
