French multipurpose helicopter developed by Aerospatiale in 1967 and was intended for the transport of personnel, reconnaissance, communications and evacuation of the wounded. The British military became interested in the helicopter and the Westland company began to produce it under license under the new name HT.2 Gazelle. The helicopter has been produced in various modifications and variants since 1970, and has been used for military and civilian purposes.
