Koswork 12mm Blue Big Bore Buggy Shock Set – Front & Rear – KOS04901TA

The Koswork KOS04901TA 12mm Big Bore Shock Set is a high-quality suspension upgrade designed for a wide range of classic and modern 1/10 scale off-road buggies from Kyosho, Tamiya and Yokomo.

Finished in an attractive blue aluminium colour scheme, the set includes two front and two rear shocks and combines 12mm big-bore pistons, polished aluminium shock bodies and Ti-Nitride coated shock shafts to provide smoother suspension action, improved bump handling and more consistent performance.

12mm Big Bore Design

The larger 12mm piston design provides increased oil volume and more consistent damping compared with many traditional vintage buggy shocks.

Koswork uses precision CNC-machined self-lubricating pistons, helping minimise friction as the suspension moves through its travel. This can provide more predictable damping over rough surfaces and help maintain tyre contact and traction.

Ti-Nitride Coated Shock Shafts

Each shock features a Ti-Nitride coated shaft, selected for smooth operation, durability and resistance to wear.

The shock bodies are internally polished to further reduce friction, giving the suspension a smooth and consistent feel throughout the shock stroke.

Aluminium Construction

Koswork has used aluminium extensively throughout the shock assemblies.

The shock bodies, caps, adjustment collars, bottom caps and spring retainers are all designed to provide excellent durability while maintaining the premium appearance expected from a high-quality suspension upgrade.

Knurled sections on the adjustment collars make ride-height changes easier when setting the buggy up at the track.

Front & Rear Specific Setup

The front and rear shocks use different dimensions and piston configurations to suit their respective positions.

The front shocks provide 24mm of stroke and measure 84.2mm overall, while the longer rear shocks provide 28.8mm of stroke and measure 99mm overall.

Front shocks use 2 x 1.5mm piston holes, while the rear shocks use 2 x 1.6mm piston holes.

Supplied with Front & Rear Springs

The complete set includes springs selected specifically for the front and rear shocks.

The front uses 44mm 8.5-turn white springs, while the rear uses longer 61mm 9-turn blue springs. Optional Koswork springs and pistons are also available separately, allowing racers to fine-tune the damping and spring rate for different surfaces and track conditions.

Wide Buggy Compatibility

KOS04901TA has been designed as a direct replacement or performance upgrade for numerous classic Kyosho and Tamiya buggies.

Koswork specifically lists compatibility with models including the Kyosho Optima, Turbo Optima, Optima Mid series, Javelin, Ultima and Ultima JJ, together with the Tamiya BB-01 / BBX and other suitable Tamiya buggy platforms.

The shocks can also be adapted to the Yokomo YZ-870C and Team Associated YZ-10, although Koswork notes that higher shock towers are required for these applications.
